DRUM ROLL PLEASE..........
It went really really well. Better than I could have asked for. It will obviously get better as I get to know him and get more comfortable with him...but it went awesome for a first night. It was a lot different of a routine, I did shoulders and chest...never done those together. And I also did traps, and I've never done those, period. But, it felt good. Actually, compared to what I'm used to it doesn't really feel like I did much of anything :) But, he has his own reasoning behind what he's doing with me, just as both of the other two have also. So, as long as he knows what he's doing, I have no complaints...I just gotta go do what I'm told. lol. He has my percentages figured according to what my max should be, so my numbers will increase every week. Tonight was very very light!!
Bench Press - 105 lbs., 5 reps. 120 lbs., 5 reps. 135 lbs., 11 reps.
Close Grip Board Press - 135 lbs., 10 reps. This was a little too heavy for my tris...my elbows flared out which was not good...not the right form. So we went down to 115 lbs. (I think), and did, I think, a set of 10 and a set of 12.
Next was Smith Military Press...this is the 'assisted' machine, that Adam says is not the 'Smith' machine...but everyone calls it the 'Smith' so, I say that's what it is. lol. Besides, there are no circuit machines at this gym, so I won't have to differentiate anymore between the two. We started w/ 25's on each side, then 30 lbs., then 35 lbs., all sets of 10. He said he isn't sure how much the bar weighs on this Smith...in Boardman it's the same as the barbells...but anyway, I'm sure it's close.
Shrugs - We started w/ 115 lbs., and I did a set of 10. But, it was too heavy for me to do any more full sets...so we went to 95 lbs., and I did two more sets of 10. I'm very excited about these...I've never done shrugs before.
Then I did a Rotator Cuff exercise with a weird looking contraption that kinda looked like twisted up bicycle handles. You put it behind your neck and then lay your arms on it for some support and start arms parallel to the floor with your elbows bent and your hands out in front and go straight up. Anyway, used 5 lb. dumbbells for a set of 20. Then did 10 lb. dumbbells b/c the 5's were too light, and did two more sets of 20.
Then some Abs. I held a band that was hanging above my head and crunched forward, sitting on an incline bench. It was very good. I was glad we figured that out. I wasn't sure about leverage...but we figured it out. That was 3 sets of 20.
So, that's it for tonight. It was pretty cool having someone there the whole time too. I am very excited. I think it's gonna be a very good thing. And I think by next post I'll actually have switched over in my brain and will refer to him as "Brian" instead of "the new guy'. lol. ;)
